Every year of life is an opportunity to change for the better, and 2019 will be no different.
As humans, we have a desire to change for good; a desire to evolve and improve ourselves which can be really great and help to serve those around us and the world we live in.
Sometimes, however, it can feel overwhelming with all you feel like you have to do and change.
The good news is that change happens slowly and over time, and it’s important to take each day, month, and year step by step.
If you really need some inspiration however and want a starting point for your goals of 2019, here are five beneficial things you can do for yourself this new year.
Get enough sleep
One of the best things you can do for your body, mind, and soul is to make a goal to actually get enough sleep.
Sometimes we think that sacrificing a little shut-eye is ok to do and that staying up late to work on projects, hang out with friends, or even binge watch our favorite shows won’t harm us, but that adds up over time and it can really take a toll on your body.
Making a conscious effort to prioritize your sleep this year will really make a difference in the long run and give you the strength and energy to accomplish all you want to do this year.
Get up and move
If you stop to think about it we really spend so much of our time sitting, probably more than any generation before us.
Sitting for long periods of time is really not good for us, so something beneficial you can do for yourself this year is to get up and move any way you can throughout the day.
If you work in an office see if they offer standing desks or even walking desks. Or use your break time to take a lap around the office, which will not only get you up and moving but give you chance to say hi to work friends and break up the monotony of the day.
Surround yourself with positivity
Positive people and things can really help to adjust your attitude on life and everything in it and can be a really powerful force for good in your life.
Try to avoid negative things and people this year which can help to ease a lot of stress and anxiety.
In places where you can’t necessarily control who you surround yourself with don’t allow your thoughts or actions to reflect the negativity and focus on the positive as much as you can.
Take your mouth more seriously
Seriously, brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once a day as well.
It’s time you understood that there are serious consequences to not taking care of your teeth and ones that only get worse as you get older. According to Washington Periodontics, some of these things are bleeding gums, tooth loss, heart disease, and even diabetes.
Save yourself time and money and just invest time and care into your teeth and mouth.
Save for a rainy day
According to the federal reserve, only about 20 percent of the population actually has a sufficient amount of savings put aside and more than 30 percent has no savings at all.
Things happen that we don’t expect and costs pop up and it’s good to get in the habit of putting money aside to pay for these little hiccups.
Plus it’s also good to put money aside for the important stuff too, like getting married, buying a house, kids, and tuition.
